The Challenge
A leading service provider planned to deploy 200 new branch routers across multiple locations. However, configuring each router manually was a slow and repetitive process that took several days to complete.
Network teams had to log in to every device individually, apply the required configurations, verify settings, and ensure consistency across all branches. This manual approach often resulted in configuration errors, deployment delays, and increased operational effort, making it difficult to activate new branch services quickly.
The Solution
To simplify branch deployments and accelerate provisioning, the service provider implemented iProvision to automate the entire device onboarding and configuration process.
The process began with Discovery, which automatically identified all newly connected branch routers and collected the necessary device information. This eliminated the need for manual device identification and ensured every router was ready for provisioning.
The discovered devices were then added to Inventory, where all relevant information was stored and organised, giving network teams a centralised view of their infrastructure.
Next, TemplateHub automatically selected the appropriate configuration template based on the device type. Configuration variables such as hostname, IP address, VLAN details, and routing parameters were populated automatically, ensuring every router received the correct configuration without manual intervention.
The completed configuration was then deployed to the devices through Configuration Management using NETCONF or CLI, enabling fast and consistent configuration across all branch routers.
Finally, Compliance validated the deployed configurations to ensure every router met the organisation's network standards and policies, helping identify and correct any deviations before the devices went live.

Business Benefits
By automating branch router provisioning, the service provider significantly reduced deployment time while improving configuration accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Provisioned branch routers in minutes instead of taking several days.
- Eliminated manual configuration errors through automated template-based provisioning.
- Standardised network configurations across all branch locations.
- Accelerated branch service activation and reduced deployment delays.
- Reduced manual effort, allowing network teams to focus on higher-value operational tasks.
- Improved compliance by automatically validating deployed configurations against network standards.
Outcome
With iProvision, the service provider transformed a time-consuming manual provisioning process into a fast, automated workflow, enabling consistent branch deployments, quicker service activation, and more efficient network operations.
