The Challenge

A leading telecom operator managed a network built on equipment from multiple vendors, including Cisco, Huawei, and Nokia. Since each vendor used different management tools and interfaces, network teams had to switch between multiple systems to monitor the network and manage traffic.

This fragmented approach increased operational complexity, slowed troubleshooting, and made it difficult to optimise traffic consistently across the network. It also increased the effort required to integrate new vendors as the network grew.

The Solution

To simplify network operations and unify traffic engineering, the operator deployed iProvision to manage its multi-vendor environment through a single platform.

The process began with the OEM Adapter Layer, which collected information from devices across different vendors and converted it into a standard format using the Common Data Model. This provided a consistent view of the network regardless of the device manufacturer.

The PCEP Controller then established communication with devices from all supported vendors, enabling seamless traffic engineering across the multi-vendor environment without requiring separate management systems.

Using this unified network information, Traffic Engineering and Dynamic CSPF analysed available paths and calculated the most efficient routes based on current network conditions. This helped optimise traffic flow while maintaining consistent policies across the network.

At the same time, Live Topology provided a real-time visual view of the entire multi-vendor network, allowing operators to easily understand network connectivity, traffic paths, and overall network health from a single dashboard. GoBGP supported efficient route management, helping ensure smooth traffic distribution across the network.
